A WOMAN in her 40s has died after suffering “serious injuries” with a man, 44, arrested on suspicion of murder.
Cops and emergency services scrambled to the scene in Hatfield Close, London, at 6.41am this morning after reports of a seriously injured woman.
But despite the efforts of paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance, she was pronounced dead at the scene in Lewisham.
A short time later, at 6.52am, a 44-year-old man self-presented at Lewisham Police Station in connection with the incident.
Cops arrested him on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody.
Police believe the man and woman were known to each other.
Her next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, said the force.
The Met Police confirmed that a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the situation.
