Washington DC stabbing leaves at least seven injured

At least seven people have been injured in a horrific mass stabbing in Washington DC

Metropolitan police said they received a call in the capital’s northeast neighborhood near Gallaudet University for the deaf and hard of hearing at 3.22pm, and when they arrived at the scene they immediately provided life-saving measurements to the victims.

Four women and two men were then transported to a local hospital and were in stable condition as of Thursday night.

Meanwhile, a suspect was arrested for the mass stabbing after he was found lying on the ground nearby. The knife he allegedly used in the attack was also found feet away, with apparent blood on it.

He was also brought to a local hospital and was undergoing surgery Thursday evening, Police Chief Pamela Smith said at a news conference.

She explained that he was in an ‘altered mental state from an unknown substance’ when he stabbed himself and a woman he was with in what she described as a ‘senseless’ attack.

The unidentified suspect also went on to stab a grandmother and her two granddaughters, who Smith said were simply getting into a car ‘minding their own business.’

At that point, two people intervened to stop the assailant and were also stabbed.

‘We didn’t just call police to wait to apprehend the individual, the neighbors actually did it themselves,’ resident Salvador Saucedo Guzman told WUSA anchor Simone de Alba at the scene.

‘He chose the wrong block to come on,’ he continued. ‘Even though he had attacked those women and really hurt those women, we put him down.’

Guzman also claimed that the grandmother who was attacked tried fighting off the assailant when she suffered a medical emergency.

Police Chief Smith now claims the incident demonstrates the dangers of drug abuse.
