A new era of financial empowerment is underway for the Abilene Christian University community, as the ACU Credit Union and University Credit Union (UCU) officially unite to expand financial services, resources and benefits for members. This strategic merger strengthens both institutions’ shared commitment to providing personalized, community-focused banking while integrating industry-leading financial solutions for members.
A Partnership Built on Shared Values
ACU Credit Union has been a trusted financial partner for ACU students, faculty, staff, and alumni since its founding in 1954. By joining forces with University Credit Union – a member-focused financial cooperative serving university communities nationwide – members gain access to enhanced services, broader resources and innovative digital banking solutions.
This merger isn’t just about combining resources; it’s about amplifying the value we provide to our members,” said Dr. David Tuyo II, president and CEO of University Credit Union. “We are committed to ensuring that ACU Credit Union members experience a seamless transition and benefit from expanded financial solutions while maintaining the same community-driven service they’ve always relied on.”
The merger was finalized on February 1 with the core banking system conversion completed on March 2. Now, members from ACU and the wider Abilene community can look forward to expanded financial support for the local community.
Strengthened Commitment to the ACU Community
As part of the transition, ACU Credit Union members will continue to experience the personalized service they’ve come to expect, now with an expanded range of tools and support to help them achieve their financial goals.
“Abilene Christian University Credit Union and University Credit Union share a deep-rooted commitment to our members and communities,” said Troy Mann, president of ACU Credit Union. “This partnership represents an exciting new chapter, allowing us to enhance our service while staying true to the values that have defined us for decades.”
University Credit Union has already established strong ties in Texas, including its existing partnerships with the Western Athletic Conference and the University of Texas at Arlington. This merger further reinforces its dedication to serving university-affiliated members across the state, including those in the ACU community.
ACU Credit Union members can expect enhanced financial education and wellness programs, as well as expanded digital banking access, greater access to a nationwide network of shared branches and ATMs, and more competitive financial services available to the community.
Looking Ahead for ACU
