Police were alerted to the incident after a video circulated online of the heavy seat being launched from above.

Footage showed the seat being picked up and dropped over a glass barrier, crashing down to the ground floor.

The person filming pans down to where the chair has landed just inches away from shoppers with a caption reading: ‘No way bro almost killed someone’.

The group of boys could then be seen sprinting away and running up an escalator.
