A private jet with five people on board has crashed off the end of an airport runway and into a bay.
The blue and white plane crashed at Southwest Oregon Regional Airport shortly after 6am PST Monday morning, KOIN reported.
It overshot the airport’s runway 23 and slammed into the adjoining Coos Bay. The four passengers and one crew member aboard were all rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital.
Details of their injuries and how they’re doing have not been shared.
Investigators and airport spokespeople have yet to comment on what may have caused the crash.
Southwest Oregon Airport, which sits along the Pacific coast about 50 miles north of the California border, has been closed to all air traffic because of the smash.
A spokesperson told KEZI that they’re working to clean hazardous materials spilled during the crash and to recover the plane’s ruined fuselage.
