Moment ‘road rage’ drivers start walloping each other with metal poles in savage fight on busy high street

This is the shocking moment two drivers hit each other with a metal pole during a road rage brawl on a busy high street. 

Footage which has gone viral on social media shows the pair clashing in the middle of a road in Erdington, Birmingham.

A woman wearing a black jacket and grey trousers appears to start the confrontation and wallops a lorry driver with the long stick. 

He then charges at her, grabs the hood of her jacket and tries to pry the metal pole out of her hands. 

The pair start wrestling on the ground near the lorry, before the HGV driver manages to snatch the stick and hit her back. 

At this point, bystanders quickly rushed into the middle of the road to break up the fight. 

The clash took place on Erdington High Street in Birmingham, with the video posted on X on March 22. 

West Midlands Police said they have not received a report about the incident, but urged anyone to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: ‘We are aware of a social media video showing disorder on Erdington High Street.

‘While no one has come forward to report the incident, we are keen to hear from anyone with information.

‘Contact Live Chat or 101, quoting log 1094 of 24 March.’

It comes after a cyclist wielding a bike lock smashed a car’s windscreen on the streets of London during a heated road rage incident last week.

Footage shows the man walking around a stationary black vehicle near a bus station in Elephant and Castle with the lock in hand. 

He then smashes the back windscreen with the metal contraption before swinging it at another man who attempted to approach him. 

The incident is said to have taken place on Rotherhithe Street in London on Friday, March 22, at around 4.25pm.

Several members of the public can be seen surrounding the car as the cyclist appears to chase a man around the vehicle.

There are screams and gasps when the rear windscreen is smashed with several people seen filming the incident

One person can be heard saying ‘can you please stop’, while another asks ‘what are you doing?’

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called to an altercation between a driver and a cyclist on Rotherhithe Street, Elephant and Castle at 16:25hrs on Friday, 22 March.

‘It is reported a cyclist hit the driver’s car from behind, and then proceeded to remove a bike tool from his bike and smash the car windscreen.

‘We are aware of reports circulating of the altercation. We remain in contact with the victim.

‘Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information or footage is asked to call 101 or post on X @MetCC quoting CAD 3618/22Mar.’
