LARRY Lamb has revealed that his Channel 5 show with his son has been axed after he quit TV for totally different job.
The Gavin and Stacey starred alongside his son George in the documentary Britain By Bike With Larry & George Lamb.
The show saw the pair take to two wheels and explore Britain’s glorious national parks from the saddle.
However, when asked if there would be another series he told The Sun: “Unfortunately, no. He’s busy in the grain business now, you know, he’s selling wild farm grains.
“And, you know, we get to spend some time together.
“But, you know, the set, as you would know, you’re like setting out a schedule for a show like that.
“You need to be, you know, a period of two or three months locked in where you can both do it.
“So it’s a little bit difficult. But I live in hopes that that might happen again.
“I think it was one of the fondest memories I have is of going around the country with him.”
Larry was being interviewed about his campaign and partnership with Greene King Pubs to help Brits embrace pub garden season — rain or shine.
The pub chain appointed Larry Lamb as Britain’s first ever pub garden weather presenter of ‘The Sipping Forecast’ – a pub-friendly weather report designed to help punters navigate the unpredictable spring conditions.
When asked about his involvement he replied: “Well, it’s like, you know, trying to get people to use pubs for what they really are for.
“Which is a public house, a place where people can gather together. and, you know, either commiserate or celebrate or just, you know, just mix and chat.
“And so for me, you know, it’s like that show that sort of put me on the map.
“It’s very much made me a part of sort of English life.
“And so Green King asked me if I’d be interested, you know, because I sort of represent a lot of people, a lot of ordinary people like old Mick Shipman and Pamela.
Gavin and Stacey’s Best Moments

With the news that the show is set to make an exciting return to screens, let’s take a look at some of the comedy programme’s biggest and best moments…
- Smithy and Rudi’s American Boy rap – No one will ever forget when James Corden and Sheridan Smith rapped perfectly word for word the Kanye West and Estelle hit American Boy as they walked across the car park on the phone to Gavin.
- Pam’s Vegetarian faux pas – Despite loving a cheesburger, Pam found herself caught up in a web of unexpected lies when she claimed to be Vegetarian. She is forced to keep up the secret throughout the entire show and uses hubby Mick to help her scoff meat. She is later rumbled when Stacey catches her in the act as she scoffs ham in the kitchen. Stacey says to her: “Is that ham, Pam!?… “I’ve seen you, Pam. A scotch egg here, a bit of bacon there, putting those regular sausages into the Linda McCartney box”.
- THAT fishing trip – It remains one of the biggest mysteries in Gavin and Stacey history as to just exactly what did happen on the ill-fated fishing trip. Bryn appears to be hiding a secret as to an occurance between him and his nephew Jason which has left relations fractures. Ness’ on-off boyfriend, Dave, is the only other person to know the whole truth. Bryn did appear to allude to him and Jason lying together naked to keep warm as he said to Dave: “We’re going to have this out, once and for all, man to man, you may know what happened, David, but you don’t know why it happened! It was freezing cold, it was! And when you are that cold…”
- Islands in the Stream – No one can ever forget the classic Karaoke performance of Islands in the Stream. Nessa and Bryn performed the track in front of all their nearest and dearest. It saw the whole pub burst into some line-dancing as they enjoyed a boozy night out.
- The Xmas special proposal – In 2019, fans were left overjoyed when the show made a comeback but it ended on the ultimate cliffhanger. Nessa asked Smithy if she would marry him as she finally laid bare her feelings for him. Fans were gutted as the show then cut straight to the credits as they never found out just how Smithy answered. Will all be revealed in the brand new episode?
“And so, you know, they’re the sort of people that go to pubs and sit in a pub garden, have a pint of beer.
“That’s it. That’s why, you know, that’s why I’m sort of involved with it.”
Elsewhere, in an exclusive interview with The Sun Larry revealed behind the scenes secrets of his Gavin and Stacey Christmas episode.
He said: “It was a struggle to contain the emotion. You get caught up in it. It was absolutely brilliant writing.
He recalled one incident when Alison Steadman, who plays on-screen wife Pam, and Julia Davis, who portrays their friend Dawn, dissolved into fits of giggles.
He explained: “Julia said something that got Alison giggling, and that got everybody else giggling, and then it just went on and on. And then all of a sudden, everybody blows up.
“It just got more and more and more chaotic, to the point where the director said to me, ‘For God’s sake, just be Mick and shout at them all, will you?’.
“So that’s what I did. I stood up and shouted at them all. I said, ‘Just shut up here. We’ve got to get this’.”
This April, Larry will be delivering special broadcasts to ensure Brits are prepared for pub garden season, come wind, rain, or shine, because at Greene King, the good times are (almost) always guaranteed, no matter the weather.
And for those who do get caught in the first April showers? Greene King Pubs is giving away 100,000 free pints as part of its ‘When It Rains, We Pour’ initiative.
The first raindrops detected between 3-10 April will unlock the UK’s biggest round of pints — so pub-goers can claim a drink on the house.
