The frozen treat is based on a legendary childhood sweet that had Brits hooked long before it got a flashy rebrand in the ‘90s – and now it’s back in ice-cold form.

Food fanatics went into meltdown after spotting Opal Fruits Ice Lollies in stores, with Facebook page NewFoodsUK posting: “Opal Fruits Ice Lollies spotted at Iceland!”
The post racked up nearly 300 likes and sparked a flood of comments, with shoppers tagging mates and family to check out the nostalgic find.
One excited fan wrote: “Opal Fruits – made to make your eyes water!” while another replied with heart-eyed emojis.
The retro lolly is the latest in a string of childhood classics to get a frozen makeover as the weather heats up across the UK.
Rainbow Drops Ice Lollies have also landed in freezers – a colourful spin on one of the oldest sweets around, first introduced before World War Two.
Fans of the rainbow-coloured puffed maize treat are buzzing over its transformation into a frozen dessert.
