I ate 100 McDonald’s chicken nuggets while running a marathon – here’s what happened

A runner has put his body to the test after attempting to a full marathon while eating 100 McDonald’s chicken nuggets.

Alfie Pritchard, who runs his own sportswear business,  took to TikTok to document the bizarre stunt in which he attempted to run 26.2 miles (42km) – all while chowing down on a mighty 100 chicken nuggets.

In the clip the runner attempted to take on the stomach churning challenge with the help of his colleague, Joe.

At the beginning of the clip, Alfie appeared confident about the challenge ahead, stepping confidently into his local McDonald’s to pick up the first batch of nuggets.

But before getting starting on the eating, he made sure to get a few miles under his belt, breezing easily through the first five kilometres of the challenge before taking his first bite.

Already a speedy seasoned runner, by the time Alfie dunked his first nugget into a bath of BBQ sauce, the box was still warm and fresh.

‘Just in time mate, they’re fresh,’ said his camerman, Joe, handing over over the fast-food which Alfie saw off in next to no time.

‘One down, they’re like smarties,’ he declared breezily before jogging into the distance to get the rest of the challenge underway.

After running 14km (8.6 miles), it was time for the second box of nuggets – though the business owner was notably more cautious.

‘See that first box was nice, these are already chewy,’ he said as he apprehensively tucked into the second box.

‘These are sticking a little bit now,’ he noted.

In one segment of the clip, Joe asked if the 40 nuggets were ‘sitting alright’, to which the runner answered ‘so far so good,’ running off into the distance with confidence.

At 23km (14 miles) though, the chicken was beginning to ‘catch up with me slowly,’ with Alfie pausing to walk part of the journey to try and get the next box down.

‘This could be a rough lap,’ he said, already beginning to wither under the lights.

At 27km (16 miles), the runner said he was starting to ‘feel a bit rough now,’ saying that he had developed ‘multiple stitches’.

After running 34km (21 miles) the challenge began to get particularly tough. As Alfie attempted to chew through another share box of chicken, the seasoned runner said he was ‘staring down the barrel of a chunder’.

But it all went downhill, with Alfie nearly ending up with his head in a bush for the second time that day. 'I was so up for it then,' he said, swiftly regretting his decision

He also noted that his legs were ‘f****d’ from already running the mammoth distance.

‘I’m not in a good way,’ he said, pointing to his chest to identify the source of the discomfort.

With just 3km (1.8 miles) to go until Alfie had completed the length of a marathon, the runner said he was considering giving up on the challenge.

‘I don’t think I can do these nuggets,’ he told his friend as he gasped for air, repeatedly saying ‘I can’t do this’.

He then asked his friend to help him secure some beverages to help him strive for the final push.

‘If I’m going to do this, I need a Diet Coke,’ he requested.

Although he had already wolfed down a whopping 83 chicken morsels over the course of the run, Alfie knew the remaining 17 would be a struggle.

But after attempting to gobble another, he proved himself and ended up being sick in a bush.

Alfie then decided to push through to the penultimate kilometre, which gave him the final surge of energy to finish the box of nuggets.

‘Give me those nuggets now,’ he said to his friend, snatching the box and striving for another attempt at finishing the box.

But it all went downhill, with Alfie nearly ending up with his head in a bush for the second time that day. ‘I was so up for it then,’ he said, swiftly regretting his decision.

Without thinking, he polished off nearly the rest of the box, with his friend saying ‘you’ve just ploughed through a decent amount of nuggets.’

He then managed to pull through and complex and complete the fifth and final box, chomping through the nuggets while walking the last kilometre – not long before pushing to sprint the final 0.1 miles.

He completed the entire challenge in an impressive 4 hours and 49 minutes, including stopping on multiple occasions to snaffle through chicken nuggets.

‘See I could do this easily if I didn’t have to run a marathon,’ another commenter joked.

‘This is the content that TikTok was made for,’ another remarked.

But others were confused by the spectacle, with another writing: ‘Just one question….why??.’

‘You’re truly an inspiration,’ one mused.

‘This is what peak human performance looks like,’ another joked.
