NOW that the sun is finally beginning to shine through in the UK, many of those with a patio may be discovering that it might not be in tip-top shape.
And after a damp, shady winter, Brits may find that moss is beginning to grow – or has already started to grow – through the little gaps.
But you don’t have to spend a fortune on expensive products from hardware shops, as there are some viral hacks currently being raved about.
Aravon McCann is one of those who has been struggling with moss outside her home.
She took to her TikTok page, @aravonmccann, to share a video of a viral hack that she tested out herself and has praised as “genius” after being driven “insane” by the problem.
Aravon claimed that using non-biological washing powder can kill the moss.
But rather than shaking it straight out of the box, she puts it into a metal sieve.
Aravon adds: “What a genius idea. This is a dream come true.”
She explained that she would previously put the powder into a bottle and shake it out, but this used to take her longer than simply sprinkling it.
Her video gained 4,162 likes with over 400 people rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One praised the hack, and wrote: “Do this all the time, it smells great after the rain.”
A second added: “Doing this for years..love the sieve idea.”
A third asked: “Does it matter if it is bio or not bio? I’m definitely going to try this.”
To which Aravon replied: “Bio is better.”
A fourth said: “It honestly does work and does no harm to your tarmac/concrete.
“My neighbour has been doing this for years and it works pretty quickly.”
