A British man has died after he fell off his electric scooter in a Costa Blanca beach town.
The 59-year-old was reportedly on his way home from work in Orihuela Costa, south-eastern Spain on Tuesday when he hit a pothole while riding along Baikal Street and flew over the handlebars of his scooter.
Emergency services rushed to the site of the crash, but despite their best efforts, they were not able to resuscitate the Brit and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Local authorities have opened an investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident.
Orihuela is a popular coastal region in the province of Alicante and is known for its beautiful beaches, coves, and vibrant atmosphere, attracting both British expats and tourists.
Several Orihuela residents rely on electric scooters due to the town’s long distances between residential areas and popular tourist spots.
While a convenient way for people to get around the seaside town, electric scooter riders face the risk of losing control of their vehicle when encountering potholes – especially when riding at a higher speed.
Adrian’s tragic accident also comes after a British-born woman and her two young daughters were killed in New York on Saturday after a car smashed into the family as they crossed the road.
