AN axed Coronation Street star has taken a ‘leap of faith’ into a new career – after being cut from the soap left him financially struggling.
Viewers watched the actor play an iconic character across two decades in the ITV soap.
Sean Wilson, 60, starred as Martin Platt from 1985 to 2005 – with a guest stint in 2018.
Taking to X, he unveiled an exciting update of a new venture to his followers.
Sean wrote: “It’s time to take the leap of faith into a dedicated artist website…
“Will get you into an eclectic site, where I’m offering many images and series of works.
“I would love you to drop in and have a peruse…S xx.”
In addition, Sean shared a link for fans to see his artwork for themselves.
One follower wrote in response: “Great website, Sean. Best of luck x.”
Another shared: “Brilliant website, love this.”
A third penned: “Website looks great Best of luck.”
A fourth simply commented: “Well done Sean.”
It’s not the first time Sean has pursued ventures away from acting – as he is also an accomplished cheesemaker.
Last year, it was revealed Sean would reprise his role as Martin Platt for on-screen ex-wife Gail’s (Helen Worth) huge exit.
But he was axed pending a police inquiry into an alleged assault from 1997.
He’d filmed more than two weeks worth of scenes when bosses told him he wouldn’t be returning to screens.
Police cleared Sean in November 2024 and said there would be no further action over the claim, made by a woman with links to the soap.
He was replaced by John Thomson returning as kids’ entertainer Jesse Chadwick instead.
It meant Sean lost out on a lucrative four month Corrie contract and had to shell out thousands of pounds for lawyers.
He revealed in an exclusive interview with the Sun on Sunday: “It’s been a great cost to me.
“Lawyers are expensive and I needed to hire them to protect me.
“ITV did pay me the contractual amount of guaranteed minimum episodes I was due to film, but I lost money on the future residuals, like episode repeat fees.”
