Good Morning Britain‘s Ranvir Singh was forced into a very hasty outfit change as a mark of respect to Pope Francis after his death on Monday.
Lorraine, hosted by Christine Lampard, was cut short for ITV to report on the breaking news that Pope Francis had passed away aged 88.
Speaking to Traitors star Harry Clark, Christine said: ‘Harry, I’m sorry, we’re just going to interrupt you just for a moment, interestingly we’re talking about pilgrimage as well and faith and belief.
‘We’ve just been told there is breaking news in the last few minutes from the Vatican. We are going to head back to Richard and Ranvir at Good Morning Britain.’
The programme switched back over to Good Morning Britain where hosts Richard Madeley and Ranvir Singh delivered the news.
‘Christine, thank you so much. As you say, we do have some breaking news from Rome,’ Ranvir said.

Lorraine, hosted by Christine Lampard , was cut short for ITV to report on the breaking news that Pope Francis had passed away aged 88 – Ranvir pictured before the announcement
‘The Vatican has just announced the death of Pope Francis.’
Ranvir had originally worn a white dress with bright fruit patterns on it.
During the breaking news report, the presenter changed into a dark suit jacket over her original outfit.
Many viewers noticed the outfit change and some cruelly called it ‘unprofessional’.
One posted to X: ‘Very unprofessional. Would’ve been better if you’d just gone to the ITV newsroom rather than GMB, and see Ranvir in a clearly ill fitting jacket loaned to her by Richard. Especially with such breaking news.’
‘They put ranvir in one of Richards suit jackets to read the pope has died bit on @gmb.’
‘Bit OTT making Ranvir wear a black jacket #gmb.’
‘Who’s blazer is Ranvir Singh wearing while announcing the death of The Pope on @GMB looks a bit big for her. #ThePope.’
‘Has ranvir borrowed one of richards jackets to report this?’

Many viewers noticed the outfit change and some called it ‘unprofessional’, sharing their views on social media
‘Bigger news is where did Ranvir find that jacket.’
After the coverage, Ranvir said, ‘Well that’s our breaking news and that’s it from us for now, we will hand you back to Christine.’
Christine then continued her conversation with Traitors winner Harry Clark who had been discussing his role on the BBC’s Pilgrimage before the show was paused.
The Vatican announced today that Pope Francis had died aged 88.
The Pontiff spent his final weeks in hospital with an infection that developed into pneumonia in both lungs.
The Conclave – where cardinals gather in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican to choose a successor – will not happen for at least 15 days.
Francis’s body will lie in state in St Peter’s Basilica during an official mourning period, and then – in contrast to most of his predecessors – he will be buried in the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome’s Esquilino neighbourhood.
Francis just yesterday greeted Catholic faithful who had gathered to see him at St Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday.
He delivered his ‘Urbi et Orbi’ benediction from a balcony overlooking the square following mass to mark the high holiday.

The Vatican announced today that Pope Francis had died aged 88
On his way to the basilica, Francis met briefly with US Vice President JD Vance, who was spending Easter in Rome with his family.
The Vatican said the encounter was ‘brief’ and lasted a few minutes.
Francis became the first pope from outside Europe in 1,300 years when he was chosen to replace the retiring Pope Benedict XVI.
Despite several previous health issues and reduced mobility caused in part by his advancing years and expanding waistline, Francis had kept up a busy schedule until his final weeks.
Lorraine and Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and are available to stream on ITVX.
