It’s a moment that’s gone down in reality TV folklore.
But Darren Day has revealed he’s never watched back the iconic ‘David’s dead’ gaffe from Celebrity Big Brother, after the misunderstanding went down in viral TV history.
The actor, 56, appeared on the Channel 5 show back in 2016 alongside stars including David Gest, Gemma Collins, Angie Bowie and Tiffany Pollard.
In a now-iconic blunder, Tiffany famously misheard Angie Bowie’s sad news that her ex-husband and music superstar David had died.
Tiffany misunderstood, thinking fellow housemate David Gest had passed away and collapsed into wild hysterics and the now iconic moment is still one of the show’s most memorable.
Speaking Channel 5 NEWS to promote his stage role in Muriel’s Wedding, Darren told host Dan Walker that he hadn’t seen the moment since it took place nine years ago.

Presented with a clip of the drama, Darren reflected on the moment he rushed into the bedroom to check on David, who was asleep after falling unwell.
He said: ‘Angie wouldn’t say David Bowie, that’s the father of her child, her exhusband.
‘I’ve done so many interviews about it, I’ve never watched it. I’ve only ever told people about pulling the sheets back I’ve never actually seen myself do it.
‘When she said ”David’s dead” and we all ran into the bedroom, when you sleep during the day in the BB house, the lights in the bedroom , you just pull the quilt over your head.
‘When we ran into the bedroom, the quilt was pulled over [David Gest’s] head, it hadn’t occurred to me that if that had happened. Channel 5 wouldn’t have just left him there.
‘And then I pulled the sheets back, I didn’t know this at the time, he’d had his third facelift, and couldn’t shut his eyes all the way.
‘I shook him and went ”David are you dead?” my kids got a difficult time in the playground after that.’
During the interview, Darren reflected on his decision to take part in the reality show, saying he wanted the public to ‘make up their minds’ about him after his public struggles with substance addiction.

Elsewhere, ITV’s revival of Celebrity Big Brother will see the second housemate evicted from the famous house on Tuesday night.
Jack P Shepherd, Patsy Palmer and Trisha Goddard all face the public vote, after receiving the most nominations in Monday’s show.
Tiffany has also made a sensational return to CBB as a panellist on Late and Live, and even recreated her ‘David’s dead’ meltdown during her first appearance on Monday.
