Villa looked dead and buried when Nuno Mendes fired PSG two in front to open up a massive 5-1 aggregate lead.
But Youri Tielemans’ deflected goal has shown there is still a flicker of life in Villa yet – even if the patient remains in a critical condition.
Villa need another shot in the arm by grabbing the first goal of the second half if they are to stand any chance of hauling back the three goals they need to take the tie to extra-time.
Unai Emery will need to gamble and I’d expect to see Ollie Watkins and Marco Asensio sooner rather than later.
But PSG are so lethal on transition it looks like an impossible task for Villa to turn this tie on its head.
PSG have had three shots on goal and two of them have ended up in Villa’s net – that’s the kind of clinical finishing which leads to teams lifting trophies!
