An Irish influencer has slammed a ‘bulls***’ face mask which has gone viral on TikTok, touted by many as being able to achieve the glass skin trend.
In a recent Instagram post Maeve Madden showed herself excitedly trying out what appears to be the viral Hoygi Collagen Overnight Wrapping Mask for the first time.
The mask, which is applied to the face in liquid form and left to dry overnight, is at the centre of many beauty influencers’ ‘morning shed’ videos where they peel it off to reveal glowing skin.
However Maeve, who is the founder of the Queens Don’t Quit fitness empire, didn’t have such a smooth removal process the next morning – and revealed her painful experience on Instagram.
Filming herself removing the ‘PVA glue’-style mask the morning after she applied it, Maeve began peeling it away from her chin – but she barely touched it before flinching as she cried out: ‘Oh my god, that’s so painful.’
The influencer continued to slowly and tentatively peel the mask away from her cheeks but was forced to frequently stop due to the pain.
Maeve’s experience is a stark contrast to that of other beauty influencers who have raved about the product, and similar products, on TikTok as having helped them achieve ‘glass skin’.
Lifestyle influencer Tolu Walase said: ‘If your skin could talk it would be begging for this.’

Tolu claimed her skin was ‘plump, hydrated, and glowing like never before’ when she woke up the morning after applying the product.
However, Maeve’s experience with the product couldn’t be more different. While tearing the mask away from her face she said: ‘Oh my god it’s like waxing your f***ing face.’
‘This is bulls***, this is not good for your skin. How could this be good?’ she said while shaking her head and making slow progress on the removal of the product.
Maeve huffed and puffed as she geared herself up to tear more of the mask off of her face but was forced to pause and take a break due to the pain.
While standing up and showing parts of the mask hanging off her face Maeve said: ‘That’s as far as I got.’
Coming back to the camera after she had finally removed the mask the influencer said: ‘I actually see no difference. I’m so sore.’

Many influencers have been promoting the mask saying that it has helped them to achieve the viral glass skin trend

The influencer had a difficult time removing the mask from her face
Maeve captioned the video: ‘This is Bulls***!! My pores are gone and so is half my soul… Queenies I dunno how I got it off, hydrated?? Not a chance.’
On Hoygi’s Amazon page they state that the Collagen Overnight Wrapping Mask ‘provides immediate firming effect and quickly improves skin condition.’
They also state that the mask is ‘easy to use, easy to peel off,’ something which Maeve is likely to strongly disagree with.
The influencer’s followers saw the humor in the post and several left laughing emojis in the comment section.
One person said: ‘Omg!!!! Crying laughing but looks like agony!!!’

After wearing the mask over night Maeve made said removing the mask felt as if she was waxing her face

Another added: ‘Okay this made me laugh so much.’
A third person wrote: ‘I’d say this is worse than waxing the va va,’ prompting Maeve to hilariously respond, ‘hahahahahah strip it naked any day over this hahahahaha.’
Others were grateful for Maeve’s honest review and said they had now been put off using the product themselves.
One viewer wrote: ‘Taking one for the team you Queen.’
Another person said: ‘Just bought this!!! After watching it on an Irish influencers page… may dump it now after watching this!!!
A third person added: ‘Yes to de-influencing bull**** products.’
