NINTENDO super-fans might have to fork out hundreds over the asking price for the company’s new “sold out” console.
Gamers face paying more than £1,000 for the Nintendo Switch 2 as early buyers flood eBay with pre-orders for the console.
That’s a stark contrast to the new gaming machine’s regular retail price of £395.99.
One eBay listing seen by The Sun had the console up for £1,025.70, bundled with Mario Kart (normally £429.99).
More than a dozen listings had the Switch 2 up for north of £600.
That’s despite the fact that the console isn’t even out yet, and won’t land in stores until June 5.

The console (read our Nintendo Switch 2 hands-on) became available to pre-order on April 8, just a few days ago.
But it quickly sold out at retailers across the UK, as well as on the official Nintendo Store.
It’s now unavailable until retailers get pre-order restocks, some of which may come as shoppers cancel their own orders.
Some gamers are already turning to eBay pre-orders however.
One “pre-sale” Nintendo Switch 2 bundle with Mario Kart World from Argos was listed as “sold and completed” on eBay on April 9.
It went for a staggering £1,020.39 after two bids on the auction site.
And dozens more have sold for between £500 and £600, far over the official asking price for the console.
NINTEN-DON’T?
Sold-out stock isn’t the only issue for Nintendo fans.
In the USA, Nintendo was forced to delay pre-orders due to President Donald Trump‘s proposed trade tariffs.
Nintendo said it was pausing the rollout in stateside “in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs”.
However, Nintendo has now said that it will begin sending out a “first batch of invitations” to purchase the gadget on May 8, 2025.
This will be followed by extra batches, until eventually it will be listed on the Nintendo Store with general availability.
It means Americans will need to wait a full month longer than Brit gamers to put down money on the console.
The console is expected to cost $450 in the USA, and experts have predicted that Nintendo won’t change this based on tariffs.

SWITCH IT UP
The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially announced on January 16, 2025, after months of rumours and leaks.
It’s a follow-on from 2017’s Nintendo Switch, and works as a portable handheld games console that also plugs into your TV.
The new Switch 2 has a bigger and more impressive display, improved processing, boosted storage, voice chat system, and will support brand new games.
That includes the new Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bonanaza, both of which are Switch 2 exclusives.
